The College has a 16,000-square-meter teaching and research building， in which there are 11 large-scale comprehensive laboratories (the laboratories of chemistry, pharmacy, biochemistry and molecular biology, botany, zoology, microbiology, cell biology, marine resources and environment, marine engineering technology, aquatic animal nutrition and disease, prevention and control, marine biological products and safety). This building has more than 120 rooms for laboratories, and the total value of instruments and equipment is more than 30 million yuan. The college has more than 20 off-campus practice bases with the good experimental conditions, which provide a strong guarantee for the improvement of the college's scientific research level, and also provide a good platform for cultivating students' innovative practice ability. The students are encouraged to carry out scientific and technological innovation activities. The number of college students' science and technology projects has accounted for 1/3 to 1/2 of the total number of campuses at Weihai. The students have won the National Youth Science and Technology Award (the only winner of the undergraduate students in Shandong Province in the past), the National Silver Award in the Challenge Cup Business Plan, and the third prize of the Challenge Cup College Student Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition. Because of their solid theoretical foundation and practical ability, the graduated students from college are very popular, in which some of them study further at world-class universities in the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia and other countries, and some of them have received full-scale direct scholarships. The undergraduate entrance rate has been maintained at around 50% for many years, and the proportion of being admitted to key universities and research institutions such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Natural Resources Department has reached more than 90%.

Through carrying out research and development work related to marine disciplines, the college has undertaken and completed a number of national key R&D projects, national natural science funds, international cooperation key projects, national agricultural transfer funds projects, and a large number of enterprises or local government commissioned projects. The total amount of scientific research funds has been maintained at more than 10 million yuan for many years, actively providing services for the regional economic development that is focusing on the blue economic zone.
